From March 2nd to March 8th, we were honored to host Prof. Tetsuo Shoji from Nara University, Japan. Supported by an NSTC grant, this visit reinforced a long-standing partnership between Prof. Shoji and Prof. Lin, focusing on the frontiers of inclusive education and assistive technology.

The core of this collaboration is the development of a groundbreaking tactile learning support system. Designed specifically for learners with visual impairments, the system translates visual data into haptic feedback, allowing students to "feel" educational content. This technology represents a significant leap in sensory-substitution tools, bridging the accessibility gap in digital learning environments.

Beyond the laboratory, Prof. Shoji engaged the NTU community through two compelling public lectures:

• System Strategies for Tactile Feedback: A deep dive into the technical architecture required to create intuitive haptic interfaces.
• Digitization and Utilization of Mongolian Heritage Sites Based on Spatial Surveying: Hosted by the Research Center for Digital Humanities, Prof. Shoji shared his decades of experience preserving cultural heritage, drawing an interdisciplinary audience from History, Linguistics, and Library Science.

This visit not only advanced our current research in assistive systems but also sparked new dialogues on how digital tools can preserve the past while empowering the future. We look forward to many more years of fruitful exchange with our colleagues at Nara University.

在國科會計畫支持下，研究室於 3 月 2 日至 8 日邀請日本奈良大學正司哲朗教授蒞臨訪問。正司教授與林老師為長期合作夥伴，此行重點在於共同研發視障者觸覺學習支援系統，利用觸覺反饋科技，打破視覺限制，提升數位學習的近用性與包容性。訪問期間正司教授亦受邀舉辦兩場專題演講：首場聚焦於觸覺系統的建構策略；次場則受臺大數位人文研究中心邀請，分享其在蒙古地區深耕數十年的文化遺產數位保存經驗，跨學科吸引了歷史、圖資、社會及教育等系所師生參與。此次交流不僅深化了輔助科技的研發，更為未來跨領域的數位典藏合作開啟新契機。
